I have worked at You HR for over 5 years now and I'll be celebrating my 6th Workaversary in September!
I joined You HR as a Consultancy Administrator, having worked in a large Oil and Gas organisation within their busy legal department as PA to a team of 8 Lawyers. I made the decision to take voluntary redundancy and look for the next step in my career, an opportunity arose from speaking by chance with by Jonna Mundy (CEO) to join the You HR Team. It must have been fate, as I met the criteria the Consultancy were looking for and it ticked all the boxes for what I was looking for, the chance to work in a role which was local and somewhere where I could really make a difference with the skill set I had.
As a mother to 3 children, I have flexibility at work to meet the demands of motherhood while ensuring I have the work life balance I want and need. There aren’t too many companies that allow you to truly work flexibly when dealing with 3 young children and equally adapting opportunities to enable career progression at the same time! Without a doubt, I know my gratitude is recognised, it works both ways in being flexible, I support the Consultancy where I can and in return the flexibility has been endless (last year I was able to have 6 weeks leave as my eldest took the big step in transitioning to secondary school!). I honestly don’t know a workplace that is so flexible! When you need to dash out the office to deal with a sick child, care for elders, switch hours to work around balancing my partners career and work needs... There is never ever any second thought, it truly is a given, that supporting personal life is a priority for You HR employees. With all that's gone on of late with COVID, this has definitely been a comforting support to the whole team, after all it really is 'all about the people'.
My journey at You HR has been incredible, with my strong administration skills, my work and abilities were recognised and I gained the opportunity to become Office Manager, being responsible for a broad portfolio of functions; from Finance, HR, Compliance through to ensuring our office ran smoothly on a day to day basis! As the Consultancy has grown over the years, so has my knowledge and experience along with more opportunities to progress my career. My role and responsibilities evolved and I became the Consultancy Practice Manager, focusing on wider activities (including Corporate Social Responsibility [CSR], Health and Safety, and Governance), which landed me in the position I now proudly have as Head of Consultancy Operations. My portfolio now also includes overseeing Business Development, Client Onboarding, and leading on a number of our Corporate Partnerships, with a great team supporting me. To say my career progression at You HR has been huge would be an understatement and I’m so extremely grateful of the professional growth that I have achieved.
Having been in my Head of Consultancy Operations role for well over a year now, I have to say that a favourite part of my role is meeting new clients whether this is in person or virtually (we are continuing to offer a blended and flexible way of working, depending on what our clients prefer). I really do love this part of my job. I spend time listening to potential and new clients, getting to know them, understanding the challenges they face and how You HR can make a positive impact on their organisation and take the pain out of HR for them. There is something really fulfilling in helping others to focus on how invaluable HR can be to any organisation, and determining the priorities approach we can take to maximise benefits from their most important asset - their people! Once a client is onboarded and handed over the Client Delivery Team, it's a real pleasure to watch their journey with You HR flourish.
