Hello, I’m Jen HR Consultant at You HR Consultancy
My Background
After graduating from University with a Psychology degree I knew I wanted to work with people. I had really enjoyed studying the drivers behind human behaviour and wanted to find a career that combined developing others and the thrill of contributing to a business’s growth. I began my HR career at a leading UK bank as a HR Graduate. After learning the ropes and studying for my Level 7 CIPD qualification in HRM, I spent seven years there in a number of HR generalist roles and with a variety of business areas, working my way up to Senior Manager and leading large scale organisational change programmes.
Prior to starting my journey at You HR in September 2021, I was Head of HR for a local sixth form college where I worked closely with managers to improve people management practices, refresh HR policies and processes, and enhance employee wellbeing.
My Approach
Having worked with a number of fast paced businesses in the past, I approach my work with agility, and will adapt my style if a situation changes. I listen, treat issues with a solution-based approach and remain calm under pressure. I believe communication is the key to a happy workplace and am passionate about treating everyone fairly and with respect.
Why You HR Consultancy
You HR really are all about the people. We listen to our clients and offer them the best advice, support and guidance that is considered, tailored and that will help them grow. We strive to educate and deliver results with purpose, that are long lasting and not just driven by profit, and our ultimate goal is to develop people management capability within our client organisations that will lead to self-sufficiency.
This people focused approach doesn’t stop with our clients - within the consultancy we support one another, communicate frequently and approach our work with agility and flexibility to ensure we both deliver for our clients, and all feel comfortable and happy at work.

My interests
I have a massive sweet tooth and love to bake! I’ve made several wedding and celebration cakes for friends and family and get such a thrill from the creative output it provides (eating the leftover cake is an added bonus too!). I love the outdoors and get out running and walking with my very bouncy working cocker spaniel whenever I can.
